Car Accident --Campbell County Virginia

Our client was injured in a car accident that occurred in Campbell County, Virginia.  She was traveling East on Route 603, halfway through a curve that turned to her right.  As she was in the turn, a postal driver came into our client’s lane and side swiped her. 
The driver of the other vehicle was a diabetic and had a sudden drop in blood sugar.  The drop in blood sugar caused his judgment to be impaired.  The defense claimed a sudden emergency which could allow a jury to decide that he was not negligent.  If the postal driver was determined to be not negligent, then our client would not have been able to make a recovery. 

As a result of the collision, our client suffered injuries to her back and left knee.  It was determined by her treating physician that she had sustained a compression fracture at T12-L1 prior to the collision, but the condition was exacerbated by the collision.  She wore a corset brace for the compression fracture and did not require surgery.  Her left knee had a torn medial meniscus flap.  Our client’s doctor determined that the tear was present before the collision, but the condition was exacerbated by the collision.  After completing her treatment, our client made a fairly good recovery given her age of 79.

The Warren Firm was hired by another law firm to handle the case when it went into suit.  The original law firm was located too far from Lynchburg to handle the matter.  We were able to settle the case for about 40% more than the original offer that was made when we put the case in suit.  Our client did not wish to go to Court and asked us to work to get the best offer we could.
